The parties behind the agreement are DTU and Roskilde Municipality. In addition to boosting research and education in energy technologies and energy systems, the area will be attractive to companies with sustainable ambitions and give a boost to Roskilde as an educational and business city.
On November 7, 2023, DTU's Rector, Anders Bjarklev, and Mayor of Roskilde Municipality, Tomas Breddam, signed the new strategic cooperation agreement.
DTU has decided to move two programs with a total of approximately 400 master's students to the area by 2030. And Roskilde Municipality has already adopted a local plan that allows companies to establish themselves in the area. At RISØ, they will have the opportunity to create innovation in close collaboration with researchers and students.
The total development area is more than 500,000 m2 and the ambitions for the new campus are high. In total, the aim is to create an attractive environment with new facilities for research, testing and business. In total, up to 4,000 jobs could be established in the area.
