DTU launches new Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial Technology at Risø Campus - an important step towards realizing the vision for RISØ Gateway.
On Friday, DTU announced plans to establish the first of several new degree programs at Risø Campus. As early as September 2026, the first Bachelor of Engineering students in the new program will be based at the campus, which today is widely known for its strong, international research and innovation environments and world-class test facilities.
The diploma program in Industrial Technology is the first step towards the establishment of an educational campus and an important step towards RISØ Gateway's vision of bringing research, education and industry closer together in the development of green solutions within energy and biotechnology in the area.
"The establishment of programs at DTU Risø Campus is central to our strategic development of the area and our ambition to create a strong bridge between research, education and industry. When students, researchers and industry meet in the same environment, the ideas and solutions we need emerge. And in RISØ Gateway, it is our task to create the optimal framework for this to happen," says Helle Vang Andersen, Program Director of RISØ Gateway.

Unique opportunity for an educational environment
Today, teaching activities at Risø Campus mainly consist of single subjects and special courses, and a number of MSc and PhD students are already based on campus. The new Bachelor of Engineering program provides an opportunity to integrate the study environment even more closely with the existing research and innovation environment.
"With the vision we have for the development of Risø, it gives us the opportunity to create a very interesting educational environment right here. With unique opportunities and frameworks for learning, experimenting and developing - and we really want to be able to offer this to our students," says Lars D. Christoffersen, Dean of Education and Study Environment at DTU.
The intake of Industrial Technology will initially be 30 students with study start in September 2026, provided that the program is approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Science.
