The BIPV Test Facility at DTU Risø Campus evaluates UnitSun curtain wall elements and other building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) technologies under real-world conditions. The facility operates in two phases: a container setup (2022–2024) with PV façades on three sides and a free-standing L-shaped installation (from 2024).
Equipped with high-precision pyranometers, temperature sensors, power optimizers, and wind monitoring, the facility collects detailed performance data on irradiance, module temperature, and electrical output. Data is logged at 10-second intervals via Campbell Scientific loggers and stored in an SQL database.
The facility enables research on thermal and electrical behavior of BIPV systems, airgap effects on efficiency, and aesthetic solar integration, supporting the development of next-generation architectural solar solutions.
