Solar Resource Measurement Station
The Solar Resource Measurement Station at DTU Risø Campus is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to high-precision monitoring of solar irradiance and meteorological parameters. Located at 55.694243°N, 12.101793°E, the station provides crucial data for photovoltaic (PV) research, including resource assessment, system optimization, and long-term performance analysis.
Instrumentation & capabilities
The station is eqipped with an extensive suite of high-accuracy sensors for comprehensive solar radiation and weather measurements:

- All-in-One Smart Weather Sensor (Lufft UMB600) – Measures air temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction, pressure, and precipitation.
- Pyranometers (EKO MS80, MS802F) – Measure broadband global horizontal irradiance (GHI) and diffuse horizontal irradiance (DHI).
- Pyrheliometer (EKO MS56, MS57) – Tracks the sun to measure direct normal irradiance (DNI) with a 5° field of view.
- Spectroradiometers (EKO MS711, MS712, MS711DNI) – Provide spectrally resolved measurements of global, direct, and diffuse solar irradiance, covering a wide spectral range (300 nm – 1700 nm).
- Pyrgeometer (EKO MS202) – Monitors broadband longwave radiation (>3 µm) for atmospheric energy balance studies.
- UV Radiometers (EKO MS-212A, MS-212W) – Measure UV-A and UV-B radiation, essential for studying solar effects on materials and biological systems.
- Sun-Tracking and Rotating Shadowband Devices – Enhance direct and diffuse irradiance measurement accuracy.
